Google Drive Desktop: A New Era of Speed and Efficiency

In a move aimed at enhancing user experience, Google has introduced a revamped version of its Drive for desktop application. The new app boasts significant speed improvements, making it more efficient than its predecessor, Backup and Sync.

One of the key changes is that Drive for desktop now directly appears in Google Photos, eliminating the need to upload files to Google Drive first and then make a copy in Google Photos. This streamlined process enables faster uploads and reduced file duplication.

For existing Backup and Sync users, a transition to Drive for desktop is imminent. Starting from September 2021, those who haven't upgraded will no longer be able to upload files to Google's cloud storage.
